Shirt for an older baby

The shirt for an older baby who no longer wears swaddling is made using the mesh crochet technique forming a floral design with cotton thread. The shirt is crafted to be open at the front with a split, and the lower part, where the floral decoration is, remains uninterrupted. The upper part and the sleeves are adorned with wavy geometric changes alternating between denser and sparser crocheted spaces. The sleeve cuffs and the shirt’s bottom are finished with a floral, edging decoration.

The shirt is part of the contents of the box labelled: This crocheted or knitted item is handmade by our late grandmother Fagioni. It was used as a baby wrap for Father when he was little in 1936.
