The stocking worn as a high knee-sock is made using the knitting technique with fine cotton thread. It begins at the top alternating between knit and purl stitches to achieve an elastic effect. Towards the bottom of the stocking, this transitions into a decorative mesh knit stitch, simultaneously decreasing to almost half its width. The foot of the stocking is worked in a simple, uniform knit stitch, typical for knitting socks or stockings.
